As NATO marks its 75th anniversary, leaders are set to present a new “Defense Industrial Pledge” at the summit in Washington, D.C. This initiative aims to bolster the transatlantic industrial base, which has been stretched thin by geopolitical tensions. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized the urgency of this pledge, highlighting the critical need for enhanced defense spending and industrial cooperation. 

The Need for a Strong Industrial Base

The current strategic climate, marked by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, aggression from China, and tensions in the Middle East, has exposed vulnerabilities in the transatlantic industrial base.
